Carissa Romano, PA-C MPAS
Carissa Romano has been a Physician Associate for almost 20 years working in the public and private sector. Prior to joining Federation of Organizations in 2014, as the Medical Director for the Nursing Home Diversion Supportive Housing Program, Ms. Romano was a Primary Care Clinician, as well as an Associate Professor. In 2017, Ms. Romano was appointed as the Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician for the agency improving healthcare outcomes by collaborating with medical providers and screening for coexisting physical health conditions, substance use and social determinants of health. In March of 2020, Ms. Romano became the Director of Integrated Care and was appointed the role of Project Director of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. In 2020, Ms. Romano was instrumental in the agency becoming a NYS approved Opioid Overdose Prevention Program and became the Clinical Director overseeing the opioid education and naloxone distribution to communities across Suffolk, Nassau and Queens County. Ms. Romano earned her Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant from Touro College School of Health Science, her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, her Certificate in Public Health from Coursera and Doctorate in Physician Assistant Studies from Touro University Worldwide.
