Let’s show some love for the Seniors!
This Valentine’s Day, Federation is asking for donations to support our Senior Services Programs. Each year, over 200 of our senior volunteers are having a positive impact on their communities! Through our community health and residential programs, we also provide mental health, substance abuse treatment, and care coordination services to hundreds of older adults, age 55 and older, to improve their health, wellness, and ability to live independently.
A few of our long running senior programs include the Foster Grandparent Program, the Senior Companion Program, and the Suffolk County Respite Care Program.
The Foster Grandparent Program, which has been in operation for nearly 50 years, matches older adult volunteers (age 55 and older) with children in local schools to provide in-school tutoring, mentoring, and support. Through our Senior Companion Program, we recruit and train active older adults who make friendly visits and socialize with frail, homebound elderly individuals. In addition to spending time, they run errands and help out around the home. Through our Suffolk County Respite Care Program, our part-time Respite Staff provide family caregivers a break from taking care of an older adult. In addition to these programs, through our community care and residential programs, we provide mental health, substance abuse treatment, and care coordination to over 2,000 older adults throughout Long Island and NYC.
Your donation, large or small, can make a difference in the life of a senior or caregiver today. We will be accepting donations through February 14!
Help support our local seniors and bring a smile to someone’s face this Valentine’s Day!
