Richard Turan’s extensive experience in the business, not for profit and education sectors brings a wealth of knowledge to his position as a Federation Board Member. Joining Federation’s Board in 2015, Mr. Turan has a unique perspective on healthcare, having served as president and CEO of Nassau Health Care Corporation (2000-2004), which include Nassau University Medical Center, A. Holy Patterson Extended Care Facility and seven additional community health centers. His tenure as president/CEO of the Long Island Forum for Technology (LIFT), a not for profit economic development agency and business association for manufacturing and technology companies, and his 20 years as President/CEO of Briarcliffe College generate a reliable insight into economic and educational issues. Familiar with the inner workings of the law, Mr. Turan also spent three years on the staff of the New York State Legislature where he served as chief staff member of the Assembly Committee on Health. He later joined the Community Service Society of New York where his recommendations were regularly presented to the NYC Council, NYS Legislature and U.S. Congress to help shape legislative proposals. Among his philanthropic endeavors, Mr. Turan, provides consulting services to executives at several major corporations. He is also a member and past chair of the board of directors of Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
