Peer Support Services

Peer support is at the core of all our services and programs. At Federation, people in recovery from mental illness work and volunteer in nearly all of our programs; 20% of the staff at Federation is comprised of people in recovery. Services provided include peer support groups and self-help groups at our community centers, as well as at local hospitals, State-run psychiatric centers, adult homes and other sites. Through The Advocacy Coalition (TAC), peers organize educational forums to help improve the lives of others, as well as help spread the voice of the consumer/survivor movement on the state and local levels. People with personal experience with mental illness run Federation's Drop-In programs and play a vital role in our outreach, advocacy, forensics, respite and peer bridger services. They also run employment groups, provide individual support and companionship and offer hope, strength and knowledge.
