P.O.W.E.R. (Peer Outreach with Evening Recreation)
The P.O.W.E.R. program uses a peer-support, self-help concept to reach out to those who find themselves threatened with homelessness while also struggling with the difficulties of mental illness.
Volunteers, members and staff provide:
√ Direct on-street outreach
√ A place that offers a safe environment where individuals can gather to
socialize and make new friends
√ Advocacy services
√ Information and referrals to other community resources
√ Informal peer counseling and support
√ Assistance in securing housing
√ On-site food pantry
√ On-site drug and alcohol prevention education
√ Assistance in securing benefits and entitlements
√ Supported employment services
√ Emergency crisis assistance
√ Weekly hot meal program
