Mental Health Community Looking Toward the Future

Commissioner Arlene Sanchez, Nassau County Dept. of Mental Health delivered the keynote address at Federation of Organization’s 29th Annual Community Mental Health Awards Luncheon. It was well attended with over 260 mental health advocates, professionals, government leaders and consumers. The Luncheon was sponsored by Pfizer, Inc. The Principal Sponsors were Bank of America, Lilly USA, LLC and TLC Transportation.

Commissioner Sanchez spoke about the need to be strong in the midst of a changing fiscal environment. She praised Federation of Organizations for their strong advocacy on behalf of individuals with mental illness and for their achievements over the years in bringing about positive changes to the mental health delivery system.

New York State Senator, John Flanagan, a longtime supporter of Federations’ work also addressed the audience and affirmed the continued need for their expert input in the process of providing cost efficient and effective services to those recovering from mental illness.
