Barbara Faron, Chief Executive Officer
Barbara Faron is a licensed social worker in the State of New York. She received BA and MSW degrees from the State University of New York. She joined Federation of Organizations in 1979 and became executive director (now chief executive officer) in 1986. Her memberships include the National Association of Social Workers and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Since 1990, she has served as chairperson of the Islip-Babylon Service Area Council. In October 2000, she received the second annual “People in Recovery Choice Award” from the Mental Health Association of Suffolk County. In 2003, she received her certification as a psychiatric rehabilitation practitioner (CPRP). In 2008, she was appointed to the advisory board of the Mental Health Foundation and the Town of Brookhaven recognized her with the “Outstanding Community Service Professional Award” in recognition of her years with Federation.Doris S. Doris S. Wagner holds a certification to practice social work in the State of New York. She received an MSW from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, School of Social Welfare. She joined Federation of Organizations more than 30 years ago as program developer, and became deputy executive director (now chief administrative officer) in 1993. She has more than 35 years’ experience in developing programs for people with special needs. Ms. Wagner is chairperson of the Suffolk County Community Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Planning and Advisory Board. She is also a member of the Suffolk County Mental Health subcommittee of this Advisory Board and the Board of Visitors at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center. In 2003, she was appointed to the New York State Office of Mental Health Commissioner’s Committee for Families, and also received her certification as a psychiatric rehabilitation practitioner (CPRP). In 2008, she was appointed to the advisory board of the Mental Health Foundation and was honored by the Town of Babylon with the “Government Appreciation Award” as part of the town’s Women’s History Month celebration. Philip Matcovsk
y, Chief Operating OfficerPhilip Matcovsky received his MSW from Stony Brook University and a certification in psychiatric rehabilitation (CPRP) from the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association. Since 1987, he has worked in varying capacities for Federation of Organizations, rising to his current position as chief operating officer. Mr. Matcovsky’s employment history includes work with homeless families at HELP Suffolk, with troubled youth and their families for Liberty Partnership Program, and faculty positions at Stony Brook University and Suffolk Community College. He has served as a member of the Long Island Cares Advisory Committee, the Community Advisory Council at Suffolk Community College, and the Patchogue/Medford School District Citizens Advisory Committee for Community and Continuing Education. As a guest speaker, Mr. Matcovsky has presented at Stony Brook University, St. John’s University, the New York Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services and the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, among other venues.
Anthony J. Angelo, MD
Dr. Angelo has been practicing for more than 35 years, and has been the chief medical officer for Federation since 2003. In addition to his ongoing private practice, Dr. Angelo has served as the director of psychiatric emergency services for Nassau County, a consultant in the area of emergency medical services for the United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare, and a task force member for the New York State Office of Mental Health – Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program regulations department. Dr. Angelo received a BS from Manhattan College and an MD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed his internship and residency at Nassau County Medical Center, where he subsequently served in several capacities, including chief of psychiatric emergency services and chief of psychiatric inpatient services.
Stephen McCarthy, Chief Financial OfficerStephen McCarthy is responsible for executive management and oversight of all financial operations within the organization. Prior to joining Federation in 2001, Mr. McCarthy worked in the field of public accounting for more than 11 years at firms located in Manhattan and on Long Island, where he specialized in the fields of taxation and auditing. He earned a BBS from Niagara University. Mr. McCarthy is a licensed CPA in the State of New York.
