Clinical Services
Federation of Organizations' clinical services serve approximately 450 consumers through Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS), Outpatient Clinic and Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT) programs across Queens, Kings and Suffolk Counties. In addition to mental health services, our medical staff provide health assessments as well as evaluate routine metabolic factors when delivering services. Referrals are made to primary care physicians and specialists when appropriate and the necessary follow-up is completed. Our programs are staffed with licensed social workers, mental health counselors, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, CASAC's and psychiatrists that provide quality treatment to the consumers. Peer workers are also an integral part in treatment delivery as they assist with outreach, advocacy, entitlements, and one-on-one support.
Evidence Based Practices
The treatment teams use service modalities that include wellness self management, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, person-centered planning, medication management and the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP). Federation of Organizations was the only agency on Long Island to receive the Wellness Self Management Gold Star recognition award for the PROS Program's participation in the Office of Mental Health's Wellness Self Management Initiative. All of our treatment programs offer programming in substance abuse, co-occurring disorders and smoking cessation. The programs also foster family relationships by offering family and consumer centered education as well as Family to Family forums.
Quality Assurance
Federation of Organizations' Quality Assurance Department ensures that all services offer each consumer the highest possible quality and effectiveness, and that the services are delivered efficiently and safely. The clinic program has participated in the Office of Mental Health Quality Assurance Initiative for the last 5 years. Through this initiative the clinic program has been able to reduce the no show rate to less than 5% and improve program attendance. In subsequent projects, the clinic has been able to reduce the instances of polypharmacy while keeping participants stable and functioning with the least medication possible.
Electronic Health Record
As in all of Federation of Organizations programs, the treatment programs utilize an electronic health record. All clinic prescribers transmit prescriptions electronically to improve patient safety. The electronic prescription system checks for drug interaction as well as completes dosage checks, adverse reaction checks and duplicate therapy checks.
