VOCATIONAL SERVICES/SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

Federation offers vocational assessment, career counseling, and assistance in creating a vocational development plan, to people recovering from mental illness. Training in interview skills and resume writing is given as is assistance in obtaining competitive employment. Within Federation a variety of placements are available to employ people who are ready to return to work. Full time and part time positions are available.

Federation also employs people in its affirmative business, The Big Nosh Cafe. It is located in Queens, and offers recovering people the opportunity to work in a supportive employment setting while refining their work skills. Vocational skill development, career counseling and job placement are also provided.

Federation is participating as an "Employment Network" in the Ticket to Work Program of the Social Security Administration. We are able to provide assistance to people with disabilities preparing for employment, finding jobs, and keeping jobs. Recipients of disability payments from the Social Security Administration are eligible to participate in this program.
