THE ADVOCACY COALITION (TAC)
MISSION STATEMENT The Advocacy Coalition is a group of experienced mental health advocates who are concerned about improving the quality of services in the community.
We create positive change through education, empowerment, social networking and by sharing personal experience.
We promote acceptance and understanding within ourselves and from others.
ADVOCACY The Advocacy Coalition (TAC) provides ongoing active support and advocacy on local and statewide issues pertaining to the recovery of individuals we serve.
EDUCATION: Educational forums are a key component to an individuals’ recovery. Some topics covered are:
The Advocacy Coalition (TAC) provides Educational forums at our Patchogue Community Center. All are welcome to attend these forums. For current topics, please call (631) 447-6460.
PEER ADVOCATES: Peer Advocates help by assisting individuals in various programs. Peer Advocates provide Supports and self-help for individuals and groups and are provided on a regular schedule at our West Babylon and Patchogue Community Centers, as well as in-patient and outpatient clinic settings.
SELF-HELP GROUPS: Peer run self-help groups offering mutual supports for individuals actively working toward their recovery and rehabilitation.
SOCIAL NETWORKING
SOCIALIZATION: Socialization is vital to a person’s recovery and includes a peer-to-peer network for individuals to come together in a friendly and safe environment. The Advocacy Coalition (TAC) provides Socials at our Patchogue Community Center on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. For more information, please call (631) 447-6460.
