P.O.W.E.R

The P.O.W.E.R. program uses a peer support; self-help concept to reach out to those who find themselves threatened with homelessness while also struggling with the difficulties of a mental illness.

Volunteers, members, and staff provide:

¨        ●   Direct on-street outreach

¨        ●   A center that provides a safe environment where individuals can

gather to socialize and make new friends.

¨        ●   Linkage to other programs serving the homeless

¨        ●   An information and referral network.

¨        ●   Informal peer counseling that is non-threatening, supportive, and

             based on life issues.

¨        ●   Remedial education and GED program.

¨        ●   Housing referral network.

¨        ●   On-site food pantry.

¨        ●   On-site drug and alcohol education and prevention.

¨        ●   Supported employment services.

THE GOAL – To help the individual get back into the community as a productive, independent person.
