Third Annual Jason Brody Memorial Golf Outing
Monday morning, September 24th, started off sunny and breezy, making it a great beginning for the Third Annual Jason Brody Golf Outing. This highly anticipated event raises money for both the Jason Brody Memorial Scholarship Fund, which makes scholarships available to people in recovery from mental illness, and The Advocacy Coalition (TAC), which is comprised of experienced advocates who are concerned about improving the quality of available services.
Jason Brody was a very kind, compassionate person who served as an inspiration to many. He was a member of the Federation family, and a dedicated advocate for the rights of consumer survivors, especially those who had issues with dual recovery. Jason understood self-help, and he also knew he had to share himself with others in order to maintain his own recovery.
Forty-four golfers, including Ralph Scordino, the Mayor of Babylon Village, joined the outing. Corporate Synergies was the primary sponsor of the event. The day was a success, and everyone enjoyed a barbecue and the presentation of trophies, which brought the afternoon to a delicious and festive end. Stephen Quaqliero from One Communications was the winner of the men’s division and Federation’s own Lois Hartman topped the women’s division. In addition, companions Mary and Fred received special recognition awards for their participation in all three Jason Brody Golf Outings.
